Summit exploring Children's Environmental Health and Health Equity

Children's Heath Equity Who should attend: Health and education professionals working with and for children who are interested in learning more about protecting children’s health. Topics covered during the half-day event include: A celebration of Children's Artwork depicting Health Equity Transforming Climate, Equity and Health: Intertwined Problems and Strategic Solutions Play Streets: Advancing health and environmental equity in physical activity opportunities for low-income rural children Eliminating Lead Take Home Exposures Finding the Balance: Building Healthy Environments and Reducing Adverse Childhood Experiences Wastewater Epidemiology Safer Cleaning and Disinfecting in Early Learning Environments Indoor Insects: Pesticides, Allergens, and Emerging Contaminants Overall Objectives: ~Increase in participant knowledge regarding the environment and hazards and how they affect human health. ~Present current theoretical knowledge to enhance and expand skills for nurses, teachers, academia, daycare personnel, community health workers and public health professionals. ~Promote competence in decision-making. ~Gain awareness of environmental exposures and how to reduce these for children. ~Understand the use of data from the Environmental Public Health Tracking Network and how this might drive policy decisions. The Kentucky Environmental Public Health Tracking Network provides Kentucky specific health and environmental data as well as national health and environmental data.
