Reflections on findings from the OECD publication “Starting Strong VI” and opportunities for advocacy

* Please note when registering, if you prefer not to be recorded you may turn off your video camera during this session. In June this year, in an online event co-hosted with ISSA and the Bernard van Leer Foundation, the OECD launched its Sixth Starting Strong: “Supporting meaningful interactions in early childhood education and care (ECEC)”. Children’s learning, development and well-being are directly influenced by their daily interactions with other children, adults, their families and the environment. This interactive process is known as “process quality”, and leads to a key question: Which policies set the best conditions for children to experience high-quality interactions in ECEC settings? Join us as we reflect on findings from this latest edition of the OECD Starting Strong project. The speakers will engage with ISSA members and other participants by looking at five main policy levers and their effect on process quality, focusing particularly on curriculum and pedagogy, and workforce development. Together we will explore how we can effectively use these findings in our advocacy work. Speakers: Henriette Heimgaertner, ISSA Board President and Co-founder of the Berlin Early Childhood Institute for Quality Development, Germany Prof. Dr. Michel Vandenbroeck, Head of the Department of Social Work and Social Pedagogy, Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences, Ghent University, Belgium Facilitator: Liana Ghent, Executive Director of ISSA
